Title: Associate Media Director / Media Director
Location: Los Angeles

A leading social media marketing agency focused on reaching and activating consumers through emerging and word-of-mouth/seeded marketing tactics (i.e., social networks, microblogs, wikis, message boards, opinion sites) is searching for an Associate Media Director/Media Director. This exciting, newly-created position will lead all paid online media initiatives, oversee media strategies and drive media buying and planning efforts for a variety of retained entertainment clients.

Reporting directly to the VP Interactive Media, the AMD/MD will collaborate with several departments within the agency and work closely with the VP of Interactive Media on big-picture initiatives and integrated-content initiatives with the agency's online partnership and social media departments.

The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with an implicit understanding of buying and planning. He/she should be an experienced manager with an agency background; who can apply creative solutions and manage multi-faceted, multi-phase campaigns. This person will also have experience negotiating with publisher representatives, ad networks and other third-party providers driving paid-media initiatives.

Responsibilities:
Implementing media campaigns, from planning through execution
• Leading and overseeing all media planning and buying for display advertising, search marketing and optimization, email campaign management, and custom paid placements
• Managing assigned marketing/media projects and each phase of the online marketing/media process (including strategy, planning/buying, trafficking, optimization, measurement analysis and ROI)
• Working directly with the online partnership/publicity, social media, creative and account teams to ensure that each project is on strategy, on time and within budget
• Handling fiscal responsibility for managing budgets, RFPs, negotiation of rates and other areas
• Providing direction to and maintaining standards for the agency's creative resources; providing significant input to creative team for format recommendations regarding the media plan
• Serving as the point of integration for media agency clients; ensuring integrated program management
• Driving the team to conduct ongoing searches for new and favorable customer acquisition opportunities and negotiation of contracts
• Identifying and qualifying vendors for co-marketing paid partnerships and managing those partnerships
• Managing third-party vendors and contractors and evaluate new opportunities for the client on an ongoing basis
• Evaluating, building and maintaining relationships in the online marketing, media and vendor community
• Staying up-to-date on and advise teams of the latest trends in interactive marketing/media; developing POV documents on new trends or special opportunities
• Participating in new project development and new business efforts as needed

Requirements:
Five years of related experience working in a media agency environment or with in-house/client-side media teams
• At least three years of leadership experience
• Well-versed in online media and marketing tactics; thorough understanding of new technologies and trends
• A wide awareness of a range of word-of-mouth/seeded marketing tactics, including social media (social networks, microblogs, wikis, social bookmarking, message boards, opinion sites), online publicity and promotions (blogs, social news sites, contests), paid media (search marketing/optimization, banner and display advertising) and creative production
• A solid leader who can inspire co-workers
• Excellent leadership skills to lead multi-phase campaigns and coordinate deliverables with several departments
• B.A. or B.S. degree preferred

Title: Senior Media Planner - Digital
Location:
SF Bay Area - 30 Minutes South of San Francisco

A top Internet marketing agency is seeking a Senior Media Planner with expertise in direct response to join its growing Search and Media team. Working collaboratively with Account Services and Media teams across a range of Fortune 100 brands, the Senior Media Planner will develop and execute media plans related to multiple online acquisition channels (display, affiliate, email, etc.). Ideal candidates will have three years of experience managing big-budget media plans, strong negotiation skills, and expertise in managing and measuring direct-response campaigns (especially conversion rates). Responsibilities:
Develop and execute media plans for multiple online acquisition channels (display, affiliate, email, etc.)
• Conduct and oversee program results analyses; help translate information into observations and recommendations
• Ensure media deliverables are met and align with client goals and objectives
• Identify strategies for maximizing results for clients
• Study demographic data and consumer profiles to identify desired target audiences for online advertising
• Evaluate editorial content and audience composition of a wide range of media vehicles to determine which would best reach the target audience
• Provide input to creative recommendations when appropriate to improve media performance
• Calculate reach and frequency of potential media vehicles
• Gather statistics and prepare media plan to guide buying process
• Present media plan to account services and client for approval; make adjustments, as needed
•Negotiate best price for media space or time to optimize budget; aggressively negotiate rates
• Buy negotiated media space, commercial time, or site placement
• Monitor media for placement and time discrepancies and negotiates credit or billing adjustments when necessary
• Prepare Insertion Orders (IOs) and place advertising
• Establish customer accounts with outside advertising networks/vendors
• Mentor junior members of the media team; may manage several staff members

Requirements:
More than five years of relevant media experience, with at least three years of online media planning/buying
• Two to three years (minimum) online experience, with either an agency or client
• Wide expertise in email (including experience working with list providers, list rental, co-registration and more)
• Deep knowledge in branding and awareness campaigns, direct response, CPM, CPL, CPA, CPC, behavioral targeting, localized placements, lead-generation campaigns, ad-network placements and other areas of interactive media
• Proficiency in and experience with media planning and negotiations
• Understanding of all relevant ad-serving and research tools (including DoubleClick, Nielsen and ComScore)
• Solid understanding and use of ad-serving technologies and tools (DART, Atlas DMT and others)
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
• Good mathematical aptitude and attention to detail
• Experience with and knowledge of business productivity tools, especially PowerPoint and Excel (Excel proficiency will be a bonus)
• Bachelor's degree (minimum); a record of strong academic achievement will be a plus.
